Hari Duniya Chutney 2 is Maji's recipe. Its a little more complex and tangy than my husband's version.

Hari Duniya Chutney 2
Coriander Leaf Chutney 2

Rating: easy
Preparation time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

1/2 blender loosely packed fresh coriander leaves (cilantro in Spanish, hari duniya in Hindi), well washed
1 small green pepper (Thai)
1/2 tea. salt
1 heaping tea. mango powder
1/2 roasted cumin seeds*
2 radishes, chopped (optional)
1 onion, chopped (optional)
1/4 cup lemon juice or to taste. (Real Lemon is okay, fresh lemon juice is better.)

Procedure:

Strip the coriander leaves from the stems. Discard stems and wash the leaves very well. Add to the blender loosely until half full. Cut the stem off the pepper, coarsely chop. Add to the blender with the rest of the ingredients except the lemon juice. Grind to a smooth, thick puree. Add the lemon juice a bit at a time. Mix and taste until the desired tartness is reached.

Variations:
Substitute fresh mint for the onions or add in addition to onions.
Eliminate the hari duniya (cilantro) and use pureed radishes and onions with the lemon juice instead.

Serves as a condiment to pakoras and other 'snack type' foods. There are lots of other foods it complements. I mention which ones at the end of those recipes.

*Cumin seeds are dry roasted on a griddle until they are brown, then ground. This can be done ahead of time.
